AUBURN - Julia Chowaney, 91, formerly of Swift Street, died Thursday, Nov. 3, 2005, at Auburn Memorial Hospital, following a brief illness.
Mrs. Chowaney was a life resident of the Auburn area, the daughter of the late Stephen and Matrona Guter Shewczyk. She worked for many years as a school crossing guard at Seward School, and prior to that she was employed by the former Eddie's Restaurant.
She was a communicant of SS. Peter & Paul Church, a member of the church choir, the St. Mary's Society, and the Ukrainian National Club Auxiliary.
She is survived by her daughter, Diane Fosdick of Middle Island; her son, Donald Chowaney of Omaha, Neb; her grandchildren, Brian, Kristin and Elizabeth Fosdick, and Jennifer Blumenthal; a brother, John Sheftic of Auburn; and several nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by her husband, Andrew Chowaney, in 1968.
Funeral services for Mrs. Chowaney will be at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, from the Plis Funeral Home, and 11 a.m. In SS .Peter & Paul Church.
Burial will be in St. Joseph's Cemetery. Friends are invited to call from 4 to 7 p.m. Monday, at the funeral home, 220 State St.
