Section crown just out of reach

At the beginning of the season, all they wanted to do was make the playoffs.
The Southern Cayuga boys soccer team reached that goal and then some. But on Saturday, the dream season came to a painful conclusion.

The Chiefs lost in overtime in the Section IV, Class C championship game.

Southern Cayuga, which earlier this week defeated the tournament's top-seeded team, couldn't quite finish off rival Marathon. Southern Cayuga came back from a 2-0 deficit to force the overtime, but the Chiefs could not find the goal they needed for the victory.

The Chiefs finished their season at 12-4-3.
