Dennis makes All-Academic team
Seven players on the 11th-ranked William Smith field hockey team earned a spot on the Liberty League All-Academic team this season.
Junior Brooke Atwood (Marathon), junior Sophie Dennis (Port Byron), senior Melissa Fitch (Durham, N.H.), senior Lauren Fuller (Loudonville), senior Sue Jordan (Boothbay, Maine), junior Katelin Nickerson (Yarmouth, Maine), and junior Liz Saucier (Old Town, Maine) represented the Herons based on their academic and athletic excellence.
In just her third season, Dennis ranks among the all-time scoring leaders in William Smith history, ranking third in career points (136), fourth in career goals (56), and tied for fifth in career assists (24).
On Sept. 17, she recorded two goals and an assist to become the 10th Heron to eclipse the 100-point barrier. Dennis leads the Liberty League in points (46) and assists (12) and is tied for the lead in goals (17). She is a sports in society major.
New mixed bowling tourney on Nov. 20
The first Auburn Mixed Doubles Handicapped Bowling Tournament will take place at 1 p.m. Nov. 20, at Starlite Lanes.
The winners of the tournament will each receive a double-ball bowling bag compliments of Bowler's Choice. Entry forms are now available at Starlite Lanes or reservations can be made by telephone.

Auburn Hoops hosting breakfast
There will be a pancake breakfast from 8 to 11:30 a.m. Sunday, Nov. 6, at the Knights of Columbus on Market Street.
Proceeds will benefit the Auburn Maroon Hoops Club.
The cost is $5 for adults, $3 for children under 10; children under 5 are free.
Soap Box Derby meeting on Nov. 10
The 2006 edition of the Nucor Bar Mill Central New York All-American Soap Box Derby will be held May 27. Boys and girls ages 9 to 16 are eligible to participate.
There will be a Soap Box Derby informational meeting at 5 p.m. on Nov. 10 at the Auburn YMCA-WEIU for anyone that is interested in participating.

Rosters available for rec basketball
The city of Auburn Parks and Recreation Department announced rosters are available for the men#'s basketball program.
Rosters may be picked up in the recreation department office at 150 N. Division St.
Entries must be filed in the city of Auburn Recreation Department office in Casey Park no later than Nov. 4. The program is scheduled to begin the week of Nov. 14. Players must be at least 19.
Auburn High HOF dinner on Saturday
The fifth annual Auburn High School Athletic Hall of Fame dinner will be held at 5:30 p.m. Saturday at the Auburn Holiday Inn.
Tickets are $25 and can be purchased at the following locations: Auburn athletic office, Auburn YMCA, KofC, Kosta#'s Restaurant, Lewis Restaurant, and Snappers.
