AUBURN - George H. “Harry” Hawryshkiw, 83, of Wright Avenue, Auburn, died Wednesday, Nov. 2, 2005, at Auburn Memorial Hospital, following an extended illness. He was the husband of Rosalie Hyriak Hawryshkiw.
Mr. Hawryshkiw was a native of the Ukraine, coming to Auburn in 1950. He served for many years as steward at the SICZ Club. Prior to that he had been employed by Columbian Rope. He was a communicant of SS. Peter & Paul Church. He served for 35 years as secretary of the SICZ Society and the Ukrainian National Association. He was past president of the Ukrainian American Youth Association, Auburn Branch, and the Ukrainian Congress Committee.
Besides his wife, he is survived by two daughters, Mary A. Hawryshkiw of Philadelphia, P., and Darka Hawryshkiw of Rochester. He is also survived by two sisters and several nieces and nephews in the Ukraine.
Funeral services for Mr. Hawryshkiw will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, from the Plis Funeral Home, and 11:30 a.m. In SS. Peter & Paul Church. Burial will be in St. Joseph's Cemetery. Friends are invited to call from 4 to 7 p.m. Friday, at the funeral home, 220 State St.
