CICERO - For the second straight year, the Weedsport field hockey team's season ended at the hands of Morrisville-Eaton, this time in the Section III, Class D championship game on Wednesday at Cicero-North Syracuse high school.
Morrisville-Eaton's Kristie DeGroat scored the decisive goal in the second extra frame to defeat Weedsport 2-1 and take home their third-straight sectional crown.
For Weedsport, it was the first trip to the sectional finals in quite some time. The Warriors haven't advanced to the championship game this decade and haven't won a title since 1995.
With the win, Morrisville-Eaton remains undefeated at 20-0 while Weedsport finishes its season at 14-6.
