BRADENTON, Fla. - Arlene Turk Mahaney, 88, of Bradenton, Fla., died Tuesday, Oct. 25, 2005, in the Manatee Memorial Hospital.
Mrs. Mahaney was born in Richford, the daughter of the late Clyde and Cecile Decker Turk and has resided in Bradenton for 22 years. Prior to that, she lived in Syracuse for 35 years.
Mrs. Mahaney was a graduate of SUNY Cortland and was employed by the West Genesee School District as an elementary school teacher at the Onondaga Road Elementary School for 25 years, retiring several years ago. She was a member of the New York State Retired Teachers Association and the Onondaga County Retired Teachers Association.
She is survived by her husband, Jerry J. Mahaney of Bradenton, Fla.; a son, David C. Mahaney and his wife, Judith of Syracuse; a brother, Roger Turk and his wife, Connie of Berkshire, Mass.; two grandchildren, Meghan M. Mahaney of Syracuse and Michelle E. Mahaney of Boston; several nieces and nephews. Her brother, Robert Turk predeceased her several years ago.
A graveside memorial service will be 10:30 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 5 in Our Lady of the Lake Cemetery, King Ferry, with the Rev. Donald Curtiss officiating. There will be no calling hours.
