Madeline M. Schneider

AUBURN - Madeline M. Schneider, 102, formerly of Lake Avenue, Auburn, died Wednesday, Oct. 26, 2005, in the Auburn Nursing Home.
Miss Schneider was born in Auburn, the daughter of the late Paul and Maude Wilman Schneider and has resided in Auburn all her life.

Miss Schneider was employed as an executive secretary at Columbian Rope Company for 67 years, retiring in 1985. In addition, she was a member of the Zonta Club of Auburn, a former director of the Booker T. Washington Center, the Auburn Memorial Hospital Auxiliary, the American Society of Women Accountants Syracuse Chapter and the Westminster Presbyterian Church. Miss Schneider was awarded the Key to the City several years ago for her contributions in community service.

She is survived by two sisters, F. Irene Anderson of Seminole, Fla., and Martha J. Smith of Hernando, Fla.; one brother-in-law, John M. DeVoe of Syracuse; several nieces and nephews, Dr. Susan Smith of Amherst, Mass., Peter N. Smith of Lake George, Carol Smith Kirk of Washington, Allison Y. Smith of Corinth, Susan Massi of Belleville, Texas, Robert P. Schneider of Houston, Paul Schneider of Texas, David Schneider of Skaneateles, Judy Atkinson of Tennessee, Paul Schneider and Charles Schneider, both of Texas, Ruth Ann DeMint of Blooming House, Texas, Diane Winchester of Denton, Texas, John F. DeVoe of Syracuse, Dorsh M. DeVoe of El Sobrante, Calif., James R. DeVoe of Cato, Caroline Dunster of Skaneateles, Rickie Bacon of Hamlet, N. C. and Sally Smith of Washington.

Friends are invited to attend funeral services at 11 a.m. Thursday, Nov. 10 in the Metcalf Chapel, Westminster Presbyterian Church with the Rev. Philip S. Windsor, pastor, officiating. The family will receive friends 10 to 11 a.m., one hour prior to the service at the church. Interment will be in Soule Cemetery.

Expressions of sympathy may be made to the Zonta Club of Auburn, P.O. Box 7112, Auburn, NY 13021 or to the Westminster Presbyterian Church, 17 William St., Auburn, NY 13021, in memory of Miss Schneider.

The Brew Funeral Home, 48 South St., Auburn, is in charge of arrangements.
