Several venues host local trap shooting
The Cayuga County Sportsmen Club is having trap, skeet and sporting clay shooting every Sunday morning.

The Falcon Sportsmen Club is holding trap shooting every Monday night and Tuesday morning.

The Weedsport Rod & Gun Club is featuring trap shooting every Saturday morning, and Thursdays afternoons and evenings.

Salmon Creek Sportsmen's Club holds shooting events from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Sundays.

Turkey shoots coming up this month

The Falcon Sportsmen Club will hold its annual turkey shoot on at 10 a.m. Sunday, Oct. 23.

There will be shooting events for rifles, shotguns, pistols and muzzleloaders and you don't have to shoot to win one of the 200 turkeys available.

There will be a turkey shoot at 9 a.m. Sunday, Oct. 30 at Salmon Creek Sportsmen's Club on Venice Town Line Road.

There will be a drawing for an Arctic Cat 400 ATV at 2 p.m.

This is open to public and all events are $3.

Bass Pro to hold class on bears in the area

There will be a one hour seminar on “Bears in Our Backyard” at 1 p.m. Saturday, in the Bass Pro Shops Sportsman's Center in the Fingerlakes Mall. The class will feature a visual presentation on the current status of bears in the Fingerlakes.

There will also be a hands-on touch table for children of all ages and a question and answer period will follow immediately.

The class is free and pre-registration is not necessary.

Dinner scheduled

for Nov. 15 at Welch

There will be a wild game dinner from 6 to 9 p.m. on Nov. 15 at the Lodge at Welch/Allyn. Featured will be ribeye of Buffalo, roasted wild boar, wild game sausages, king salmon and salad and sautee stations.

There will also be musical entertainment, a gun raffle, silent auction and a cash bar.

Cost per person is $75 and all proceeds benefit the Disaster Services of the Cayuga County Chapter of the American Red Cross, please RSVP by Nov. 4 at 252-9596 or email chapter@ccredcross.org.
