Auburn police are searching for a 34-year-old Auburn man who they said is armed with a knife and forced entry into the apartment of a 24-year-old Auburn woman and assaulted her Tuesday morning.
Lee A. Williams, 43 Frazee St., is prohibited from having contact with the woman under an Auburn City Court order of protection. Auburn police were dispatched to 17 Florence St. at about 8:59 a.m. regarding a domestic incident with injuries.

The woman had been struck in the head with a knife and was kicked and punched in the head and face, police said. She suffered cuts, bruising and swelling to the face and head.

Police said Williams may be armed with a knife and driving a blue 1995 Dodge Intrepid four-door, with blue-tinted windows and chrome spinner wheels. He should be considered armed and dangerous.

He is wanted on warrants for burglary in the first degree, criminal possession of a weapon in the third degree, assault in the second degree, criminal contempt in the first degree and endangering the welfare of a child.

Three children, ages 9, 2 and 2 months, were present during all or part of the incident, police said. The 2-year-old and 2-month-old are children of Williams and the woman. The children were unharmed. The victim was transported to Auburn Memorial Hospital for further treatment. Anyone with information should contact the Auburn Police Department at 253-3231 or dial 911.
