Albert D. Figgolari, 76, of Old Stage Road, Groton, passed away peacefully Thursday, Sept. 15, 2005, at his home, after an extended battle with cancer.
Albert was born July 5, 1929, in Locke, the son of Dominick and Lydia Davis Figgolari. He was a resident of Groton most of his life.
Albert was employed by Price Chopper and retired from his 50-plus years of employment with McGuire & Bennett Construction in 1991.
He was an Army veteran and military policeman in the Korean War, a life member of VFW Post No. 7127 of Moravia, and member of Carrington-Fuller American Legion Post No. 800 of Groton.
Surviving him is his wife, Elizabeth "Betty" Figgolari; two daughters, Patricia (Kevin) Fairbanks of Moravia and Tammy (Ben) Slamp of Cortland; one brother, William (Ella Mae) Figgolari of Little York; two sisters, Mary Nielsen of Cortland and Aline (Harry) Silcox of Virgil; four grandchildren, Joseph Corson-Fairbanks, Paige Fairbanks, Brandon and Myra Slamp; and several nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by his parents; and two brothers, Frank H. Figgolari in 2005, and Dominick "Hank" Figgolari in 1999.
Funeral services with military honors will be held 10 a.m. Monday, Sept. 19, at the Wade Funeral Home, Moravia. Interment will be in Bird Cemetery, Locke. Calling hours will be held from 4 to 7 p.m. today, Sept. 18, at the funeral home, 22 Church St., Moravia.
