WEEDSPORT - Naomi E. Smithler, 63, formerly of Route 34, Weedsport, died Saturday, Sept. 3, 2005, at Auburn Memorial Hospital, Auburn.
Naomi was born in Binghamton on July 27, 1942, the daughter of the late Gifford and Charlotte Natzle Wheeler. She had resided for many years in Weedsport, where she had, at one time, owned and operated St. John's Restaurant, which previously had been owned by her late parents.
She is survived by one brother, John (Paula) Wheeler, Somerville, Mass., one niece, Clara Wheeler, and one nephew, Eric Wheeler.
She was predeceased by her husband, Carl R. Smithler, who died May 11, 2004.
A graveside service will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, Sept. 9, at Cato Union Hill Cemetery, Cato, with the Rev. Floyd Duger, pastor of Meridian Baptist Church, Meridian, officiating. There will be no prior calling hours. If desired, contributions may be made to the American Diabetes Association, Central New York Region, 1603 W. Genesee St., Syracuse, NY 13204. Arrangements are under the direction of Jewell Funeral Homes Inc., Weedsport.
