Shooting at local sportsman clubs

The Cayuga County Sportsmen Club is having trap, skeet, and sporting clay shootings every Sunday morning. For more information, call the Cayuga County Sportsman Club at 252-2031.
The Falcon Sportsmen Club is holding trap shooting every Monday night and Tuesday morning.

The Weedsport Rod & Gun Club is featuring trap shooting every Saturday morning as well as Thursday afternoons and evenings.

Salmon Creek Sportsmen's Club holds shooting events from 8 a.m. to 9 p.m. on Sundays.

"Old Timers" shoot from 9 a.m. to noon on Wednesdays.

Fishing derby to take place for children

The First Annual Brian Bisgrove Memorial Kids Fishing Derby will be held from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Oct. 1, at Everest Park. The derby is open to all children 12 and under. The entry fee is $8, and prizes will be awarded.

Participants must supply own bait and tackle. Live bait or lures can be used. All proceeds will benefit Everest Park.

It is sponsored by Champions for Life, Bass Pro Shops and Mustad Hooks. Pre-registration available at Champions for Life Sports Center and Bass Pro Shops.

Sign-ups will also be available derby day at the pond.

Photography class offered at Bass Pro

On Friday, Sept. 30 and Saturday, Oct. 1, professional photographer Glenn Gaston will conduct a two- day outdoor skills workshop on outdoor photography.

Gaston will cover such topics as basic outdoor photography tips, camera care, photo composition and use of digital cameras.

The Friday night inside class will start at 5:30 and the second will begin at 8 a.m. on Saturday in the field.

The class is limited to a dozen people and students can register by stopping into the store and signing up at the Customer Service Department or by calling 258-2700 and asking for the Customer Service counter.

Anyone attending a class needs to meet in the front vestibule of the store 10 to 15 minutes before Friday's class and the instructor will lead the students to the class area.

Cost of the course is $25, due to instructor at first class.
