An Owasco man pleaded guilty in Cayuga County Court Thursday to possession of more than 10 pounds of marijuana.
Clifford Lewis, 58, of 6262 Townhall Road, was scheduled to have hearings on the legal ramifications of the two felony charges and a misdemeanor charge he faced, but instead Lewis entered the guilty plea to first-degree criminal possession of marijuana.

At the minimum, Lewis could be conditionally discharged for his conviction, and at the maximum, he faces five to 15 years in state prison.

Before his plea, Lewis faced the felony charge of third-degree criminal possession of a weapon and a misdemeanor charge of unlawfully growing cannabis. For the criminal weapon possession charge, Lewis was accused of possessing a five-inch stick of dynamite.

Lewis' sentencing is scheduled for Oct. 11 in Judge Mark Fandrich's court.

Also in court:

- Melanie Driscoll, 31, of Rochester, pleaded guilty Wednesday to second-degree promoting prison contraband. Driscoll was conditionally discharged by Judge Peter Corning for the crime.

Driscoll admitted she set up a delivery person to smuggle six ounces of marijuana into the Auburn Correctional Facility Oct. 6 and drove the person to the Auburn Correctional Facility from Rochester.

Driscoll's co-defendant, Ponce De Leon Goings, 26, of Rochester, was sentenced to one year in Cayuga County Jail for trying to smuggle the marijuana into the prison.

- Christopher Phelps, 16, of 8755 South Seneca St., Weedsport, pleaded guilty Wednesday to the felony charge of third-degree criminal sex act and third-degree rape.

Phelps admitted he raped and sexually abused a 15-year-old girl while they were working on preparations for a talent show in the Weedsport School District, Assistant Chief District Attorney Jon Budelmann said.

Phelps' sentencing is scheduled for Oct. 20.
