ELBRIDGE - Carolyn P. Dewey, 89, of Meadow Lane, Elbridge, died Wednesday, Aug. 24, 2005, at her residence.
Mrs. Dewey was the last surviving daughter of Otto and Anna Marie J. Presser. She was a supervisor of the Department of Motor Vehicles Bureau in Auburn for more than 30 years, and retired after being Cayuga Deputy County Treasurer.
Carolyn was a member of the Cayuga County Republican Club, the First Church of Christ Scientists, and a former member of the Highland Golf Club, all of Auburn. She also enjoyed extensive traveling.
Surviving her are three nieces, Marlene F. Chappell of Camillus, Beverly P. Brumbaugh of Chester, Va., and Jane D. Weiland of Durham, N.H. Mrs. Dewey enjoyed her great-nieces, Cheryl L. Chappell, Leslie C. Waltzer and Kimberly C. Brickley; and great-nephew, Winthrop M. Chappell Jr. She is also survived by five great-great-nephews and two great-great-nieces. She was predeceased by her husband, Valere Dewey, who died also on Aug. 24, but in 1994.
In addition to her husband predeceasing her are five sisters, Frieda P. Floring, Elizabeth P. Harold, Martha, Anna and Louise Presser; and her three brothers, Walter, Carl and Frederick Presser. A memorial service will be held for family and close friends at 2 p.m. Friday, Aug. 26, at the Brew Funeral Home, 48 South St., Auburn.
There will be no calling hours. Interment will be in Fort Hill Cemetery in Auburn. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Heart Association, PO Box 3049, Syracuse, NY 13220, in memory of Carolyn P. Dewey.
