AUBURN - Virginia L. (Goodwin) Wenzel, 77, of 54 Standart Ave., Auburn, went to be with the Lord on Aug. 22, 2005, after fighting a short battle with leukemia.
She was born on April 19, 1928, in Dryden. She attended Dryden schools.
She worked at Smith Corona of Groton.
She was a member of the Ed Britton Widow and Widowers Group, and the Edna Hurst Owasco Lakers. She was a member of St. Alphonsus and Sacred Heart Churches.
She was predeceased by her husband of 40 years, Francis, in 1988; her parents, Albert and Grace (Metzger) Goodwin; a daughter, Margaret (Perry) Cook of Virginia Beach; sisters, Avis and Gladys Elwood; and brothers, Carl, Robert, and Alfred Goodwin.
She is survived by her two daughters, Kathren (Daniel) Merritt and Theresa (Timothy) Denson of Auburn; five grandchildren, Sherri and Edward Cook of Virginia Beach, Va., and Tami, Trevor and Taylor Denson of Auburn.
There will be no calling hours. Burial will be in St. Joseph's Cemetery, with a graveside prayer at 9:30 a.m. Wednesday, Aug. 24, by the Rev. Thomas J. Hertweck, pastor of Trinity Assembly of God Church, Clay.
Arrangements are by Langham Funeral Home of Auburn.
