Swim Owasco on Labor Day
The third annual Swim Owasco will be held on Labor Day, Sept. 5 at Camp Rotary on the east side of Owasco Lake.
Swimmers are pre-assigned to boats and allowed up to two hours to make the crossing.
The entry fee is $10 and includes a t-shirt as well as breakfast after the swim at Casowasco.
Entry forms are available at Emerson Park, the YMCA, The Citizen and the Cascade Grill.
In Moravia, entry forms are available at Modern Market, Granny's Gas Station and New Creations Hair Salon.
There will be no registering on the beach this year and the deadline for entries is Thursday, Sept. 1.

The Champions for Life Sports Center is accepting registrations for the fall programs in gymnastics, cheerleading and tumbling, homeschool fitness program, karate, indoor tennis and indoor soccer.

Auburn modified and freshman football signups will be held at 6 p.m. Aug. 24 and 25 behind Seward Elementary School.

State Fair and SU teaming up
The New York State Fair and Syracuse University are offering a package for the West Virginia football home opener and the fair.
Fans will receive a free admission ticket good for any day of the fair, Aug. 25 through Sept. 5, with the purchase of a regular admission ticket to the Sept. 4 football game.
Kick-off is scheduled for 1:30 p.m.
Tickets are $32 each and can be purchased at the fair ticket office or at the Dome ticket office.

YMCA offering youth soccer
The Auburn YMCA and the newly formed Cayuga Soccer Academy will be offering a Micro Soccer program for children in kindergarten through seventh grade.
The program provides a fun and safe environment for youngsters to learn to play soccer under a uniquely low player-to-staff ratio.

The CNY Storm All Stars, a competitive cheerleading program in Syracuse, will be holding placement sessions for Mini Prep (second grade and below) on Sunday, Sept. 11 from 3:30 to 4:30 p.m. and Special Needs (open to anyone ages 8 and up with a mental or physical disability) on Thursday, Sept. 15 from 5:30 to 7 p.m.
There will be no cuts. These two teams will practice once a week and will compete locally.
