AUBURN - Clarice M. Turney, of Franklin Street, died unexpectedly Thursday Aug. 18, 2005 in Highland Hospital, Rochester, following a brief illness. Mrs. Turney was born in Auburn, the daughter of the late William and Clara Pearce Holmes and has resided here for most of her life.
Mrs. Turney was a former member of the Board of Managers of the Faatz-Crofut Home, a member of the Auburn Memorial Hospital Auxiliary, a member and elder of the First Presbyterian Church of Auburn and a 60-year member of W. Mynderse Rice American Legion Post No. 97 Auxiliary. In addition, Mrs. Turney was a talented artist who studied under Prof. Walter K. Long and Harold Walker. Mr. and Mrs. Turney have enjoyed spending their winters in North Fort Myers, Fla.
Surviving are her husband, John T. Turney of Auburn; two sons, Keith W. Riche and his wife, Barbara, of North Fort Myers, Fla., and Scott F. Turney of Auburn; one brother, William P. Holmes and his wife, Georgina, of Auburn; and several nieces and nephews.
Mrs. Turney was predeceased by her sister, Jane Stanton, who died in 1990.
Friends are invited to attend funeral services, which will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Aug. 24, at the Brew Funeral Home, 48 South St., Auburn, with the Rev. Philip S. Windsor officiating. Interment will be in Soule Cemetery, Sennett.
Friends may call at the funeral home from 4 to 7 p.m. Tuesday.
Expressions of sympathy may be made to the First Presbyterian Church Memorial Fund, 112 South St., Auburn, NY 13021, in memory of Mrs. Turney.
