Shooting at local sportsman clubs
The Cayuga County Sportsmen Club is having trap, skeet, and sporting clay shootings every Sunday morning. For more information, call the Cayuga County Sportsman Club at 252-2031.

The Falcon Sportsmen Club is holding trap shooting every Monday night and Tuesday morning. For more information, contact Don Wells at 252-6208.

The Weedsport Rod & Gun Club is featuring trap shooting every Saturday morning.

Salmon Creek Sportsmen's Club holds shooting events from 8 a.m. to 9 p.m. on Sundays.

"Old Timers" shoot from 9 a.m. to noon on Wednesdays.

Skills workshop at Bass Pro Shop

Bass Pro Shops Sportsman's Center in the Fingerlakes Mall will conduct a pair of two-hour Black Powder/Muzzleloading Redhead Outdoor Skills Workshops on Saturday, Aug. 20.

One class will run from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. and the second class will be from 2 to 4 p.m.

Students can learn basics and advanced techniques of black powder and muzzleloading.

Instruction topics include history, characteristics, safety, traditional and in-line rifles, along with a question and answer period at the end.

Anyone wishing to take the class needs to meet at the right side of the hunting counter 5 to 10 minutes before the class starts and instructor Glen Schram will lead students to the seminar area. Cost is free and more information is available at www.basspro.com or at 258-2700.

Indoor 3-D archery shoot next week

Bass Pro Shops Sportsman's Center along with Copper John Archery will host an indoor 3-D archery shoot on Aug. 27 and 28.

The 40-target shoot will take place in the roller rink upstairs. Avid and beginning archers are invited to attend.

Registration costs on shooting days are $15 for adults and $10 for kids under 16. Youths under 10 shoot for free.

Payouts will be in Bass Pro Shops gift cards and prizes. Registration times for Saturday for women and youth start at 9:30 am and finish shooting by noon. Adults start right after the women/youth shooters are done and shoot till 5 pm. On Sunday, women/youth shoot till noon and adults have to register by 2:30 pm and the awards will begin at approximately 5 pm at fish tank area.
