AUBURN - A 44-year-old man was sentenced to one year in Cayuga County Jail Thursday for leaving the state with a 15-year-old girl. Charles Neddo, 44, of 25 Dexter Ave., Auburn, was sentenced for a felony charge of first-degree custodial interference.
While there was no evidence of physical or sexual assault on the teenager, Judge Peter Corning told Neddo that he believed "it was in the back of your mind. I don't know that, but it's my gut reaction."

The county probation department had recommended incarceration for Neddo, even though the District Attorney's office recommended shock probation.

Neddo promised the girl he would get her a fake identification in Montana and then take her to California; instead he took her to New Orleans, where they were discovered. Neddo's attorney, Norman Chirco, said Neddo took the girl - to whom he is related by marriage - with him because he was concerned she was being physically abused.

Also in court:

- Ryan Brahney, 32, was ordered to stay away from the victim of the 1995 punching and stomping assault Brahney committed. Brahney was paroled from state prison last month for the first-degree assault charge.

- Kareem Davis, 20, of 10 McMaster St., Auburn, and Adrian Hall, 21, of B27 Brogan Manor, Auburn, had their sentencing for felony charges related to a March 2 Sheridan Street robbery postponed until Nov. 22, pending the resolution of their co-defendants' cases.

- Gregory Graves, 38, of East Syracuse, was sentenced to 3.5 to seven years in prison for stealing an all-terrain vehicle from Bass Pro Shops in the middle of business hours Feb. 21. Corning also recommended Graves be considered for parole supervision through a drug treatment program.

Graves also was sentenced for stealing the pickup truck used in the ATV larceny, which was later found in downtown Syracuse.

Graves' codefendant, Jay Konsceck, 43, of East Syracuse, was previously sentenced to one year in Cayuga County Jail for his role in the theft.

- Kevin Lasher, 46, of 2601 Earl St., Weedsport, had his sentencing postponed until Aug. 18 for a felony charge of third-degree rape and a misdemeanor charge of first-degree unlawfully dealing with a child. The sentencing was delayed because Lasher recently suffered a head injury. Lasher admitted supplying alcohol to a 16-year-old and a 15-year-old and then having sex with the 16-year-old Feb. 21.

- Floyd Tillman, 49, of 33 Sheridan St., Auburn, pleaded guilty to an Oct. 29 burglary of a Bradford Street residence. Tillman admitted he entered the home with the intent to commit a larceny.

Tillman pocketed videotapes and attempted to steal alarm clocks and cologne from the residence before being interrupted by the residents returning home, Chief Assistant District Attorney Jon Budelmann said. Tillman's sentencing is scheduled for Sept. 15.

- Michael Whyte, 49, of Port Byron, pleaded not guilty to a felony charge of first-degree falsifying business records and a misdemeanor charge of petit larceny.

Whyte is accused of returning a stolen electric razor for a cash refund at Kinney Drugs in Weedsport.
