AUBURN - A pregnant 18-year-old who possessed crack cocaine with the intent to sell it was sentenced to five years probation and given youthful offender treatment in Cayuga County Court.
Shakima Elliott was one of two teenagers who became involved in crack cocaine dealing because of the older mid-level dealer they lived with, prosecutors said.
That dealer, Kristy L. Hetherington, 26, of 2 Woodruff Place, previously pleaded guilty to selling crack cocaine at 29 Barber St.
Along with two other females, Elliott and Hetherington were arrested Dec. 1 during an Auburn Police Department drug bust. The bust netted $2,000 in crack cocaine and marijuana, more than $2,100 in cash and drug packaging materials.
Elliott's sentence Tuesday was for a felony charge of fifth-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance.
Elliott will now be living with her mother in Auburn instead of in her previously problematic situation, said her attorney, Michael Bass.
"Hopefully that will be a stable situation," Bass said.
Also in court:
- Kathy McMonagle-Rich, 40, 13193 Guernsey Road, Ira, pleaded not guilty to felony charges of second-degree criminal possession of marijuana and second-degree perjury and misdemeanor charges of fourth-degree criminal possession of marijuana, seventh-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance and second-degree false sworn statement.
McMonagle-Rich is accused of possessing more than six pounds of marijuana at her residence and possessing hallucinogenic mushrooms Dec. 15. She is also accused of having a discrepancy between her written statement to police and her testimony before a Cayuga County grand jury.
- Shaneeka Ogletree, 23, of Syracuse, pleaded not guilty to two felony charges of third-degree criminal sale of a controlled substance and two felony charges of criminal possession of a narcotic drug.
Ogletree is accused of selling crack cocaine within city limits Oct. 28 and Nov. 8.
