Cayuga County Clerk Sue Dwyer and Sheriff Rob Outhouse will continue their series of "Passport and Public Service Days."
The event, which will be from 9 a.m. to noon Wednesday at the Town of Ira Municipal Building on West Main Street (Route 370), Ira, will give county residents the chance to apply for passports, learn more about public safety and talk to two of their elected officials.
Services provided that day include passport application processing (including passport photos), pistol permit applications and various Department of Motor Vehicles forms, such as boat registrations. The sheriff will distribute information about public safety programs and free gun locks.

Cato board to
discuss capital plan
The Cato-Meridian board of education will meet tonight to discuss creating a board policy committee and the information gathering committee.
The board will also discuss the district's five-year capital facilities plan, which is required by the New York State Education Department.
The meeting will be held in the middle school cafeteria at 7 p.m.
Shwaryk sentencing postponed again
The federal sentencing of an Auburn man who has been convicted of child pornography charges has been postponed another month.
Kevin Shwaryk will be sentenced at 11 a.m. Aug. 22, in U.S. District Court in Syracuse. His sentencing had been scheduled for Monday, but his attorneys asked for another postponement, said Assistant U.S. Attorney Lisa Fletcher.
Shwaryk, 51, of 17 Morris St., Auburn, pleaded guilty in U.S. District Court in Syracuse in January to a federal charge of possession of child pornography. He also pleaded guilty in Cayuga County Court in November 2004 to a state felony charge of possession of a hard-copy pornographic picture of an underage child engaged in a sexual act.
County to consider new position
There will be a public hearing to discuss the possible creation of a new county position at 6:30 p.m., today on the sixth floor of the county office building, 160 Genesee St. The hearing will be held during the Legislature's monthly meeting.
The new position, administrative assistant to the Legislature chairman, is a highly debated issue among legislators. The Legislature has been working to change the form of county governance for more than a year and a half.
Syracuse man pleads not guilty
Altyrric Harrell, 25, of Syracuse, entered a not guilty plea in Cayuga County Court Monday during an arraignment on two felony charges of third-degree criminal sale of a controlled substance and third-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance.
Harrell failed to appear for an arraignment in front of Judge Mark Fandrich March 1, and Fandrich issued a warrant for his arrest.
Harrell's assigned counsel, Joseph Sapio, said his client had been in the hospital on March 1.
Harrell is charged with trafficking drugs July 8, 2003. Motion arguments in the case were set for Sept. 20.
Judge Peter Corning set Harrell's bail at $15,000 cash or $30,000 bond.
