Senior Doubledays defeat Reds

Snappers Senior Doubledays beat the second-place Reds, 8-6, in Men's Senior Baseball. Joe Wiseman, Greg DiCola and Joe Szakalski shared the mound duties and combined for 10 strikeouts.
Scott Payne and Steve Komanecky led the offense with three hits apiece. Marty Black, Mike Szakalski and DiCola had two apiece.

Fall soccer starting in Southern Cayuga

Southern Cayuga Sports Conference is now accepting registrations for fall soccer. Children in grades K-6 are eligible. Practices start the second week of August; games start the first week of September and end the second week of October. Signups will not be accepted after Aug. 1.

tryouts next week

The Syracuse Youth Futbol Club will be conducting team tryouts from boys and girls ages under 9 through and under 18 in early August for the 2005-06 soccer season. All tryouts will be held from 6:30-8 p.m., Aug. 1 to 11 at the Morgan Road Elementary School, 7795 Wetzel Road in Liverpool.

Auburn Ice Hawks running fund-raiser

The Auburn Ice Hawks Youth Hockey organization will be conducting a bottle/can drive throughout the summer to help offset the operating cost.

If you are interested in helping out by donating bottles/cans contact Dan Hlywa at 252-7062.

Arrangements can be made to pick them up. All you have to do is bag your donation and we will do the rest.

Donations will be greatly appreciated and will help children continue to enjoy a great winter sport.

Football deadline approaching soon

Southern Springs football camp is being held from Aug. 9-12. The camp hours are 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. daily, and is open to athletes in grades 4-12. Cost is $55.

Athletes must provide their own lunch; drinks will be provided during breaks. Camp sessions will be held at Union Springs High School.

All football players in Union Springs and Southern Cayuga are encouraged to attend. Deadline to register is July 31.

Highland hosting AEF Golf Classic

The Auburn Education Foundation will be hosting its second annual Golf Classic at noon, on Monday, Aug. 1 at Highland Park Golf Course.

The format will be a captain and crew. The entry fee is $100 per person.

Maroons running basketball camp

The Maroons girls basketball camp is open to girls in the Auburn School District in grades 3-12 from 9 a.m to 1 p.m. on Aug. 8 to 11 at Seward Elementary School.
