The Auburn Human Rights Commission is accepting nominations for recipients of the Auburn Human Rights Award 2005.
Nominees must be involved with the community through education, social services, health care services, ministries, fund-raising, volunteer work or mentor programs.
Submissions must be received by Sept. 6 and should include a brief resume with a short, written statement explaining how the individual meets the guidelines. Commission members will vote for recipients in September.
Nominations can be sent to Auburn Human Rights Commission, 24 South St., Memorial City Hall, Auburn, NY 13021. For more information, contact Karen Sheftic-Burns, executive director of the commission, at 255-4122.
Fund-raiser for Dems at Falcon Park
The Cayuga County Democratic Party will hold its seventh annual baseball night with the Auburn Doubledays at 6 tonight under the tent at Falcon Park.
Tickets are $30 and include admission, food, beverage and a seat under the VIP tent to watch the Doubledays play the Hudson Valley Renegades. Proceeds from the event will support Cayuga County Democratic candidates.

Meeting addresses ways to grieve
The Wounded Healers Bereavement Support Group will have its next monthly meeting from 7:30 to 9 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 2, at 17 Clymer St., Auburn.
Chris Lloyd, LSCSW-R, will speak on "What to Pack for the Grief Journey." The group is open to anyone who needs support, education and understanding in a time of grief. There is no charge for monthly meetings.
Conquest to hold annual picnic
Past and present Conquest residents are invited to join their neighbors for the third annual Conquest Community Picnic Saturday, July 30, at the recreation field.
There will also be a genealogy seminar from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the municipal building. Chris Farrar and Mike Doyle will perform, starting at 3 p.m. Dinner will be at 5 p.m. with hot dogs, sausages and beverages provided, followed by awards for the youngest, oldest and longest time in the town. The event will conclude around 7 p.m.
East High School Class of '55 displayed
The Cayuga County Historian's office is currently featuring memories of the class of 1955 from Auburn's East High School.
The exhibit will be on display from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. throughout July and August on the third floor of the historic post office on Genesee Street.
If any other Cayuga County high school class has celebrated its 50th graduation anniversary and would like to contribute to the display, call the historian's office at 253-1300.

The award will honor outstanding contributions to local history in three categories: community, historical society or museum, and historian. Recipients will be named at the annual county historian's banquet on Sept. 30.
