WATERLOO - Bobby Gage hit a home run as Auburn defeated Cato 5-2 in the Little League Major Division All-Star Tournament Thursday. Auburn will play at 6 p.m. today at Waterloo.

Mike Ferlenda had two hits and Jacob Leader added a triple. Jared Humphrey pitched six innings and gave up four hits, zero earned runs, two walks and recorded 10 strikeouts. Nick Koziol played well defensivley.

Brandon Bardo, Brian Cummings, Patrick Walton and Nick LaCone each had a hit for Cato.

JUNIOR OLYMPIC SOFTBALL

Christina Hyrynk slugged a two-run home run and pitched a complete game as the Mets defeated the Yankees 5-0.

Adding hits for the Mets were Stephanie Crehan, Carly Reilly, Britany Massi, Devon Guinnip, Valerie Fox, Larissa Carter and Kelli Hix.

Kacey Jervis pitched a complete game for the Yankees, and Emily Nguyen led the offense with solid hitting.

SANDLOT

Morgan Malone had two hits and an RBI to lead Vietnam Vets over Butler Services 9-5. Griffin Roberts and Matt Pantori played well defensively, and Stephen Chrisafulli pitched well.

Jimmy Sikora had a single and an RBI for Butler Services, while Megan Condes and Dan Kopp played well defensivley.

Jimmy Bennink, Stephen Murray, Dylan Bross, Hannah Doty and Terry Daniels each had four hits to lead Meyer Bookbinding over Byrn's Trophy 18-16.

Alex Aldrich received the game ball for Byrn's Trophy, while Jacob Nord played well offensivley.

AUBURN BOYS AND GIRLS

Chris Frost hit a home run as the Padres beat the Red Sox 24-17. Alex Fallon added three hits (triple), while Michael Biata had an unassisted double play.

Michael O'Hearn had three hits for the Red Sox, while Isaac Colella had two. Kaiden Tubbert played well defensively.
