Big inning lifts Auburn over Jammers
AUBURN - Following an 8-4 loss to the Jamestown Jammers on Monday night, Auburn Doubledays' manager Dennis Holmberg said his team was only one big hit away from a breakout inning. The third inning in Tuesday night's game against those same Jammers was the inning he'd been waiting for.
The Doubledays scored four runs off four consecutive hits in the third and took the lead for good in a 5-3 victory in front of 1,341 fans at Falcon Park.
"Those crooked scoring innings-when you score three, four, five runs-those innings are hard to overcome," Holmberg said of Auburn's big inning.
