Cato Little League has been serving the community since 1957. It gives children ages 5-12 years old an opportunity to play baseball or softball.
Cato Little League has four divisions: Instructional, Pony, Minors and Majors. The older children in minors and majors play in a traveling league with Northern Cayuga Little League, which consists of Port Byron, Weedsport, Jordan-Elbridge and Skaneateles.
This gives the children a chance to play in a competitive league since there are not enough teams to play in-house.
Cato Little League plays its home games at CIMARF Park (Cato Ira Meridian Athletic Recreational Field), which is located just west of the four corners of Cato.
Cato Little League would like to thank CIMARF Park for giving the children a great place to play. Also, a special thanks to Bruce Tuttle for preparing the fields on a daily basis.
Sponsors are a key part of Cato Little League and I would like to thank everyone for all their help and support. Coaches are also an important part of Cato Little League.
It takes a lot of time and preparation to coach a team. I greatly appreciate all the help and dedication they give to the community.
The 2005 season is about half over, of the games I have watched or coached, I have noticed how well the children have come together as a team.
It should make for a fun and exciting second half. Keep up the hard work.
Cato Little League is the host of the boys 9 and 10 year-old district tournament this year. It will run between June 30 and July 21 at CIMARF Park.
Every chartered league from District 5 can bring as many teams as they wish, with one winner moving on to the Sectional Tournament.
I wish everyone the best of luck the rest of the season. Again, I would like to thank everyone involved with Cato Little League.
