Robert R. Steigerwald

AUBURN - Robert R. Steigerwald, 68, husband of Lillian Czechowicz Steigerwald, of 5 Kenwood Road, died Wednesday, May 25, 2005, at University Hospital, Syracuse, following an extended illness.
A life resident of Auburn, he was the son of the late Romain and Stella Walczyk Steigerwald. He was a communicant of Sacred Heart Church and a past member of the Parish Council. Bob was a Navy veteran, serving in the 6th Fleet aboard the USS Oglethorpe.

A former service representative for Singer Co., he was a part owner of the former Chet's Leather Processing and had been employed by the Auburn Enlarged City School District until his retirement.

Bob was a 4th Degree Knight of Columbus, a member of the Elks Club, the Surfside Beach Moose Club of S.C., and was an avid skeet shooter with the Homer Rod & Gun Club and the Cayuga County Sportsman's Club. An avid golfer and hunter, he looked forward to his outings with his buddies. Bob also enjoyed and was very involved in all of his grandson's sporting events.

Surviving is his loving wife of 46 years, Lillian Steigerwald; his daughter, Jennifer (Dale) Baker, grandson, Robbie Steigerwald, and granddaughter, Alyssa Baker, all of Auburn; two sisters, Patricia Cool of Auburn and Mary Ann Thorn of Florida; several nieces and nephews; and many loving friends.

Bob was predeceased by his son, David, in 1982.

Funeral services will be 10 a.m. Monday, in Sacred Heart Church. Relatives and friends are invited to call from 4 to 8 p.m. Sunday, at the Nicpon Funeral Home, 235 State St.
