OLD FORGE - The Auburn High School boys golf team won it's third Section III, Class AA championship in four years behind David May's third-place score of 75 at Thendara Golf Club Monday.
The Maroons won with 395 points, second-place Fayetteville-Manlius had 399, third-place Watertown and Whitesboro tied with 406.
The Auburn boys have been in hibernation, not having played in any matches since the fall regular season.
Most of Class AA schools compete in the fall, the other classes, B-D, have their regular seasons in the spring.
For the Maroons, Ryan May shot a 75, Brian Hoey added a 80, CJ Shaw fired a 81, Brian Walker had a 85, RJ Lewis contributed a 93 and Jordan Cannizzo carded a 94.
David and Ryan May, Hoey and Shaw each qualified for the the Section III tournament which will be held at the Colgate University golf course May 26 and 28.
