MORAVIA - Greg Langtry scored on a throwing error as the Moravia baseball team won a thriller, 3-2, against Groton in nine innings in the first round of the Section IV, Class C playoffs.
The No. 4 Blue Devils will host the winner of No. 12 Marathon and No. 5 Candor at 1 p.m. Sunday.
Craig Pittinger (RBI), Jared Hatfield, Ryan Conner, Derek Powers and Brad Mulvaney each had hits.
Pittinger and Hatfield spent time on the mound. Pittinger went 5 1/3 innings, striking out seven, walking three, scattering six hits and two runs. Hatfield went 3 1/3 innings, striking out two and giving up two hits.
"Craig threw a nice game and Jared was outstanding in relief," said Moravia coach Rich Valentino.
The Blue Devils improved to 16-6.
