WEEDSPORT - Helen Margaret Hughes Moody, 95, of Weedsport, died Tuesday, May 17, 2005, at Finger Lakes Center for Living.
Helen was born Dec. 10, 1909, in Cranberry Lake, and had lived in Syracuse and Weedsport. She was a graduate of Central High, Syracuse. She had been employed as a secretary with the U.S. Government, Detroit, Mich. She was active in her church and a volunteer for numerous organizations, including the Old Brutus Historical Society. She was a member of the Altar Rosary Society at St. Joseph's Catholic Church, Weedsport.
Surviving are two brothers, Leonard Hughes of Houston, Texas, and Lloyd (Eileen) Hughes of Auburn; and several nieces and nephews.
Family and friends may call from 4 to 7 p.m. today, May 20, at Jewell Funeral Homes Inc., 8886 S. Seneca St., Weedsport. Funeral services will be held 11:15 a.m. Saturday, at the funeral home, ad at noon in St. Joseph's Church, for a Mass of Christian burial. Burial will be in Weedsport Rural Cemetery.
If desired, memorial contributions may be made to the St. Joseph's Church, Weedsport, or the charity of one's choice.
She will be sadly missed by her many nieces and nephews, and her many friends from Port Byron and Weedsport.
