MARCELLUS - Ann "Barbara" Crawford, of 2678 Howlett Hill Road, Marcellus, formerly of Auburn, died unexpectedly at home on May 17, 2005.
She was a Catholic woman with deep devotion to our Lord and his Blessed Mother. She showered her love and affection on her family, friends and those in need. Barbara was known for her generous and kindly spirit. Her gentle soul was truly a representation of God's love and light for all of mankind.
Ann was born Oct. 31, 1932, the daughter of Fotinia and Michael Kowal. She was a resident of Auburn most of her life.
She had a career for 20 years in the fields of accounting and banking, that she was very successful at. She also worked at Nicht's Feed and Seed Store, a family-run business, assisting her sister, Mary Kowal, and brother, David Kowal, former owners.
As a young woman, she was a communicant of SS. Peter & Paul Church, and a member of the Sodality Club, in devotion to Our Blessed Mother. For the past six years, she was a member of St. Francis Church of Marcellus, where she resided.
Ann especially took great pride in raising her three daughters. She was a great role model. They continue her legacy of compassion and desire to help others by devoting their lives to nursing (Susan Siddall), teaching (Linda Fitzgerald), and social work (Peggy Crawford). Her grandchildren, Conor and Sean Fitzgerald, were the absolute joy and delight of her life. She was incredibly proud of them.
Ann's hobbies included cooking, gardening, knitting, sewing, love of nature and the beauty of our United States that she traveled often with her family. She enjoyed entertaining the company of her family and lifelong friends, that included Jeanne Burns, Tilly Kazanivsky, Barbara Murinka, Nellie Coleman, Ann Kynio among many others.
Ann's sudden death will be an immense loss to those in her life. Ann would want for us to follow her motto, "Courage is fear that has said its prayers." It is our wish that Ann will be received with open and loving arms by Our Precious Lord, Our Blessed Mother, St. Ann, all the saints, her beloved husband, Robert John Crawford IV, and all deceased family members.
She is survived by her three daughters, Susan Siddall and her husband, Michael, of Marcellus, Linda and Timothy Fitzgerald of DeWitt, Mich., and Peggy Crawford of Springwater. She has two beloved grandchildren, Conor Patrick Fitzgerald and Sean Timothy Fitzgerald. Her siblings include Helen Sage, Nellie Boncariwsky, Betty McDonald, Sister Miriam Claire, OSBM, Sophie Berry and David Kowal.
Ann was predeceased by her loving husband, Robert John Crawford IV; mother, Fotinia Kowal; father, Michael Kowal; and sisters, Mary Kowal and Julia Kowal.
