ELBRIDGE - Tim Fuller capped off a great weekend for his B and F general Machine team, winning the Spring Fling 50 Sunday evening at the Rolling Wheels Raceway. The win was worth $3,000 to Fuller and was his second triumph of the weekend, having won at Brewerton Speedway on Friday night.
"The car was hooked up all day long," Fuller said. "But it certainly helps to start up front on a day like today. I knew the car was fast and hoped to not screw up along the way."

Fuller did not screw up at all, taking the lead from the pole position at the drop of the green flag and leading every lap without encountering any serious challenges.

"The track is similar to how it was two weeks ago, we just got to run 40 more laps than we did last time here," Fuller said, referring to his early exit due to a blown motor in the Wheels season opener.

While Fuller cruised out front, Vic Coffey settled into second behind Fuller and stayed there for the entire race, netting a fine second-place effort after starting fifth overall.

Behind the lead duo, much slicing and dicing was taking place. Billy Decker and Matt Sheppard were two drivers on the move, coming from 12th and 17th respectively, and racing their way into the top five by lap 15.

Sheppard was running in third following a lap 32 restart when he tangled with the lapped car of Jeff Isabell entering turn three. Sheppard's No. 44 ended up over the turn 3 embankment and by the time he was able to collect his mount, he was running last on the lead lap.

Decker inherited third and held that position until the finish. Chad Brachmann turned in a nice effort, passing Shawn Beardsley on the final lap to claim fourth in the H and H Troyer mount. Beardsley settled for fifth spot, his best effort ever at the Wheels.

Jimmy Phelps came home sixth in the J and B Installations No. 99j. Pat Ward passed more cars than anyone, climbing from 21st to seventh at the wire. Chuck Bower was eighth, followed by Danny Johnson and Steve Paine to complete the top 10 finishers.

It was a rough day for many top competitors, as Ward, Paine, Bob and Tim McCreadie, Alan Johnson, Brett Hearn, and Stewart Friesen all failed to qualify through their heat races and were forced to run the consolation races.

Hearn and Alan Johnson failed to qualify through the consis as well, marking the first time in close to 30 years that a feature was run at Rolling Wheels without at least one of them competing in it.

Russ Hefti took the checkered flag in the 20-lap sportsman main, but the win was awarded to second-place finisher Dan Wiesner after Hefti was found to have a fuel violation. Hefti was not alone, as the third through fifth place cars were all disqualified. Rob Pratt and Greg Doust were awarded second and third, with Sammy Reakes and Rob Hile fourth and fifth.

Joe Stefanski won an action-packed 25-lap Stacker 2 Super DIRT series pro stock race, passing his brother Pete Stefanski for the lead and then beating back the advances of Lee Burnett who actually held the lead on the white flag lap. The crowd was vocal in their disapproval, but Stefanski was uncowed.

"I gave him his lane, he should've gave me mine," Stefanski said.

Burnett was second at the wire, followed by Jipp Ortiz in third. Bob Buono and Clayton Benedict completed the top five.

The Cayuga County Fair Speedway hosts another full evening of racing Sunday, May 22 beginning at 6 p.m. The big-block modifieds are joined by the sportsman and street stock ranks.
