AUBURN - Mr. Robert S. Simpson, 95, formerly of Schwartz Towers, died Friday, May 13, 2005, at the Finger Lakes Center for the Living.
Mr. Simpson was born in Niagara Falls on March 15, 1910; he was the son of Robert T. H. and Anna Clark Simpson. Mr. Simpson had been a resident of Auburn since 1917 and as a young man worked for his father at Simpson Brothers Garage on Clark Street. He was later employed at Auburn Spark Plug for 32 years, retiring in 1973 as a chief inspector. He previously was an active bowler, a Mason and an RSVP volunteer. He enjoyed building model ships and miniature doll furniture. Mr. Simpson was a communicant of SS. Peter and John Church.
He is survived by his wife of 69 years, Edith E. Price Simpson; his son, Robert J. Simpson; daughters Barbara (Richard) Baier, all of Auburn, and Elizabeth (Edward) Watkins, of Owasco. Mr. Simpson is also survived by a brother, Clifford J. (Agnes) Simpson, of Rochester; five grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; three nieces and one nephew.
In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by a grandson, David E. Watkins, and a brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Reginald and Nellie Price.
Funeral services will be held at 10:45 a.m. Tuesday at the White Chapel Funeral Home, 197 South St., Auburn, followed by internment in Lakeview Cemetery, Fleming. There will be no public calling hours. In lieu of flowers, Mr. Simpson's family would like to encourage donations to either the SCAT Van, 17 Nelson St., or to Meals on Wheels, 8-10 Hulbert St., both in Auburn.
