A Cortland man is facing a pair of felony charges in connection with a dispute in which he is accused of running over another person with a truck in Moravia.
Joseph E. Quarella, 29, has been charged with the felony counts of first-degree assault and third-degree criminal possession of a weapon, along with a misdemeanor count of endangering the welfare of a child, the Cayuga County Sheriff's Office said.

The incident started as a verbal dispute Wednesday night at the Pleasant Valley Trailer Park, which is next to Dresserville Road in Moravia, Sheriff Rob Outhouse said.

Quarella had been a resident at the park until Wednesday, when he moved to Cortland.

Quarella was arguing with Richard F. Wood, 34, of Moravia, before he drove a 1988 Dodge pickup truck into Wood and ran him over, Outhouse said.

Quarella also threw a 3-year-old child from his vehicle prior to moving it forward.

Wood was treated for a broken leg, and the child was not harmed.

Quarella turned himself in to Cortland County authorities Thursday morning.

He was arraigned that afternoon in Village of Moravia Court and remanded to Cayuga County Jail on bail of $15,000 cash or $30,000 bond.
