CATO - Jack A. Warner, 87, of Bonta Bridge Road, Cato, died Sunday, April 24, 2005, at his home.
Mr. Warner was born in Anoka, Minn., on Sept. 8, 1917. He was the son of the late Frederick and Louise Warner. He was a veteran of World War II, having served with the Army Air Corps. It was during his military service that he was awarded the Soldier's Medal for his heroic efforts in saving the life of two fellow servicemen, who were trapped in a burning airplane.
Mr. Warner operated the family farm on Bonta Bridge Road. He was involved with both dairy farming and crop raising. He was known for his beautiful gardens and built clocks for family members. He was a member of the Cato American Legion Post, chaplain of the Cato Masonic Lodge 141, president of Weedsport Senior Citizens and a member of the First Church of Christ Scientist in Fulton.
Mr. Warner is survived by his two daughters, Joyce Dobeck and her husband, John, of Victor, and Janice Coon and her husband, Kenneth, of Cato; his son, James Warner and his wife, Marilyn, of Cato; eight grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.
He was predeceased by his wife of 58 years, Frances N. Warner on Feb. 10, 1000. Also predeceasing him were two brothers, Allen and Charles Warner.
Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday, at White Chapel Funeral Home, 2719 Erie Drive, Weedsport. Friends are invited to call on the family from 4 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, at the funeral home. Burial with military honors will be in Plainville Cemetery.
