Moravia finishes Fla. trip with split

KISSIMMEE, Fla. - The Moravia baseball team split two games on the final day of its Florida trip on Friday, beating Falmouth, Mass., 7-6 and losing to Gloucester Catholic, N.J., 8-4 at Cracker Jack Stadium.
Craig Pittinger pitched six innings against Falmouth. Cory Langtry came on to earn the win in one inning of relief.

Jared Hatfield and Ryan Conner were each 2-for-3 in the game.

In the second game, Jason Page started and earned the loss for the Blue Devils, lasting 3 1/3 innings and giving up six runs. Greg Langtry and Hatfield pitched in relief.

Cory Langtry was 2-for-3 with a triple, and Conner again was 2-for-3.

Moravia (7-5) plays at Lansing on Monday.

Bishop Ludden 6, Skaneateles 3

SKANEATELES - Andrew Grutka took the loss for the Lakers, scattering five hits, striking out seven and walking five in six and two-thirds innings of work. Four of the six runs were earned.

Grutka led Skaneateles at the plate with two hits (double) and two runs. Mike Pesarchick added an RBI double.

Pulaski 9, Port Byron 5

COOPERSTOWN - Andrew Perkins paced the Panthers with two doubles and two RBIs. Nick Janusz (double) also had two hits.

Nate Short added a triple, Kevin Casler pitched in with a single and a RBI, and Mitch David (sacrifice bunt) and Dan Spencer each added singles. Tyler Quanbeck had a sacrifice bunt.

Port Byron (1-7) hosts LaFayette on Monday.

SOFTBALL

Jordan-Elbridge 2, CBA 1

JORDAN - Colleen Ryan struck out 19 batters, walking one, and had two hits including a home run to lead the Eagles.

Jessica Snyder scored the winning run for Jordan-Elbridge in the sixth inning on a passed ball.

Sarah Hart had a hit for J-E, and Rachel Graf had a stolen base.

Jordan-Elbridge (6-2) hosts Cortland on Monday.

Marathon 16, Moravia 11

MORAVIA - The Olympians took advantage of three Moravia errors and collected 14 hits and six walks off Blue Devils pitcher Jennifer Guido en route to the win.

Kathleen Youngs, Brittany Wade and Guido all had two hits for Moravia. Jaymi Kelley had a double.

The Blue Devils (7-4, 5-4) play at Lansing on Monday.
