SYRACUSE - Zach Prentice ripped a two-run single in the top of the ninth inning that proved to be the game-winner as the Auburn High baseball team defeated West Genesee 7-6 at Alliance Bank Stadium on Thursday.
Prentice's single broke a 5-5 tie and scored Jeff Graceffo and Dan Zambito.
Steve Deyo paced the Maroon bats, going 4-for-5 with a RBI. Pat Montgomery added two hits and a RBI, Nick Prentice pitched in with a two-RBI triple and Zach Prentice had the winning two-RBI single.
Greg Feocco earned the win in relief, pitching 2 2/3 innings, striking out two and giving up two hits and an earned run.
Nolan Mahaney pitched the first 6 1/3, fanning nine, walking one, scattering four hits and giving up four earned runs.
Auburn (6-4, 4-3) hosts Lansing today in the first game of the Auburn Doubledays High School Baseball Tournament.
