AUBURN - A Tompkins County man accused of burglarizing three businesses in the town of Genoa last fall was arraigned in Cayuga County Court Thursday on charges related to another September burglary.
Christopher Balog, 37, of 2 Milliken Road, Lansing, pleaded not guilty to the felony charges of third-degree burglary and third-degree criminal mischief and the misdemeanor charge of petit larceny.
Balog is accused of breaking into Genoa's King Ferry Pizzeria and bowling alley Sept. 4 and stealing a bottle of Southern Comfort and some cash.
Balog is also accused of spearheading a slew of burglaries at the south end of Cayuga County, including stealing an ATM from Smith's IGA, stealing beer and cigarettes from Wilcox General Store and stealing $3,000 worth of power tools from Ag Trac Parts.
Also in court:
Jeffrey O'Connell, 36, of 8371 E. Loop Road, Port Byron, pleaded guilty to two felony charges of driving while intoxicated and first-degree aggravated unlicensed operation.
O'Connell admitted he was driving on Turnpike Road in the town of Throop Feb. 20 with a 0.13 blood alcohol count.
O'Connell's charges were increased to the felony level because of previous DWI convictions in 1995 and 1999.
O'Connell's license was revoked following these convictions.
His sentencing is scheduled for June 2.
