AUBURN - Charles A. Owen, 94, formerly of Augustus Street, Auburn, died Sunday, April 3, 2005, at Auburn Memorial Hospital.
Mr. Owen was born on Dec. 2, 1910, in Auburn, to the late Henry and Maud Merritt Owen, and has been a lifetime resident of Auburn. He was the former president of The Charles H. Sagar Co. Inc./Rexall Drug Store in Auburn, and he was a member of St. Luke's United Church of Christ for more than 50 years, where he served as financial officer. He also was a former member of the Auburn Chamber of Commerce.
Surviving him is one daughter, Marilyn S. Stregiel and her husband, Norman, of Skaneateles; three grandchildren, Jeffrey Owen Stregiel and his wife, Heidi, of Syracuse, Kristine R. Strodel and her husband, James, of Davidson, N.C. and Todd A. Stregiel of Philadelphia, Pa.; three great-grandchildren, Carter Owen Stregiel, Merritt Sophia Strodel and Mayella DuBois Strodel.
Mr. Owen is predeceased by his wife, Evelyn Guse Owen, who died in 1973; and two brothers, Arthur B. Owen and G. Merritt Owen; and one sister, Marion Owen Gannon.
Friends are invited to call from 1 to 2 p.. Thursday, April 7, at the Brew Funeral Home, 48 South St., in Auburn. A funeral home service will be held immediately following the visitation at 2 p.m., with the Rev. Pamela D. Anderegg officiating. Interment will be in Fort Hill Cemetery, Auburn.
In lieu of flowers, expressions of sympathy may be made to St. Luke's United Church of Christ Memorial Fund, 25 Seminary Ave., Auburn, NY 13021; or to Meals on Wheels, 8-10 Hulbert St., Auburn, NY 13021, in memory of Mr. Owen.
