MORAVIA - Eva L. Jennings Bowen Coon, 84, of Millstream Court, Moravia, died Friday, March 4, 2005, in Cortland Memorial Hospital, after a long illness.
Eva was born Aug. 3, 1920, in Steveville, Alberta, Canada, the daughter of Lula and George Jennings. She was a 1938 graduate of Moravia High School. In addition to her jobs of mother and wife, she worked at Crescent Corset Co. in Moravia and Enna Jettick Shoe Factory in Auburn.
Eva was predeceased by her husband, Leonard O. Coon in 1988. Together they lived in Horicon, Wis. and Clermont, Fla. Upon his death, she as a widow lived in Dryden, Lakeland, Fla. and Haines City, Fla., prior to returning to Moravia in 2003.
She is survived by her four children, Shirley E. Bowen (Tracy Perkins) of Rochester, Douglas H. Bowen (Lucy) of Houston, Texas, Gerald C. Bowen of Moravia and Dave S. Bowen of Haines City, Fla.; a stepdaughter, Linda Coon of Randolf, Wis.; nine grandchildren, Stephanie Perkins, Kim (David) Reid, David (Angel) Bowen II, Douglas (Michelle) Bowen, Tina (Eric) Niswender, Brenda (Ron) Powers, Ron (Vicki) Hall, Denise Simpson and Lori (Steve) Stephenson; 10 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by her sisters, Mildren Eaton, Marion Regets and Phyllis Stayton; her brother, Harold Jennings; and her first husband, Howard H. Bowen in 2004.
Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Monday, March 7, at the Wade Funeral Home, 22 Church St., Moravia. Spring interment will be in New Hope Cemetery. Calling hours will be held from 3 to 5 p.m. Sunday, March 6, at the funeral home.
