AUBURN - William A. Chekansky, 50, of South Street Road, Auburn, died Saturday, Feb. 26, 2005, at home, following an extended illness.
Bill was a life resident of the Auburn area, the son of the late William and Mary Shemyla Chekansky. He was employed by Auto Finisher's Supply. He was a member of SS. Peter and Paul Church, the Ukrainian National Club and the Prison City Ramblers. For a number of years he served as a coach for boys and girls baseball. He was an avid NASCAR fan.
He is survived by his wife, the former Joanne Edwards; his children, Sarah, Jason and Joseph Chekansky, all of Auburn; and his nieces, Carol Chekansky, Lynne Potteiger, and Laura Pirkl. Besides his parents, he was predeceased by his brother, Michael Chekansky, in 2000.
Funeral services will be at 11:15 a.m. Tuesday, from the Plis Funeral Home, and 11:45 a.m. in SS. Peter and Paul Church. Burial will be in St. Joseph's Cemetery. Friends are invited to call from 4 to 7 p.m. today at the funeral home, 220 State St.
Friends are encouraged to contribute in Bill's memory to the SS. Peter and Paul School or Church Funds, or to Hospice of the Finger Lakes.
