AUBURN - Mrs. Mary Sloan Mulvey, 91, of Standart Woods Apartments and formerly of Densmore Avenue, Auburn, passed away Friday, Feb. 25, 2005, at Auburn Memorial Hospital.
A native of Fleming and lifelong resident of the area, she was born on Feb. 3, 1914, the daughter of John A. and Ellen J. Titterington Sloan. She was a graduate of Auburn Academic High School and the Mercy Hospital School of Nursing with the class of 1934. She had married Joseph M. Mulvey on Thanksgiving Day, 1936 in St. Alphonsus Church. She had been employed with Mercy Hospital as a registered nurse until her retirement in 1971. She was a communicant of Holy Family Church and a member of the Mercy Alumni Association and the Mercy Auxiliary.
She is survived by three children, Peter S. Mulvey and his wife, Barbara, of Auburn, Joseph E. Mulvey and his wife, Elizabeth, of Lady Lake, Fla., and Ann M. Mulvey, of Auburn; three grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by her husband, Joseph Mulvey; a son, Michael J. Mulvey, and four brothers, Paul, John, Carl and William Sloan.
A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Tuesday, March 1 in Holy Family Church with the Rev. James E. Burke, pastor, as celebrant. Interment will be in St. Joseph's Cemetery. Calling hours will be 4 to 7 p.m. Monday at Farrell's Funeral Service, Inc., 84 South St., Auburn.
