AUBURN - Ida Genova Leide, 94, of 1 St. Anthony St., Auburn, formerly of 1 Woodruff Place, passed away peacefully Thursday, Feb. 24, 2005, at Auburn Memorial Hospital.

She was born in Auburn, the daughter of the late Vincenzo and Lucia Lupo Genova and had been a life resident. Ida was a communicant of St. Mary's Church and a member of its Rosary and Scapular Society. Prior to her retirement, Ida had been employed for over 30 years by the former Dunn & McCarthy Shoe Company in Auburn. Mrs. Leide enjoyed the countless hours she spent preparing delicious meals for her family and friends.

She is survived by her loving children, a son, US. Army Retired General John A. Leide and his wife, Ann of Palm Coast, Fla.; a daughter, Mary Ann Janis and her husband, Gary of Auburn; six grandchildren, Major John F. Leide, Laura Zaferakis and her husband, Michael, Jeffrey Leide and his fiancee, Lisa, Carey Janis, Meridith Bell and her husband, James and Cassie Janis; two great-grandsons, Ian and Cole Zaferakis; a sister-in-law and dear friend, Amelia Cardinale and a brother-in-law, Cy Leide and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, Ida was predeceased by her husband, E. John Leide; three sisters, Josephine Losani, Emily Emperato and Mary Genova; a brother, Benjamin Genova and a sister-in-law, Beatrice Genova.

Friends and relatives are invited to join the family at 11:30 a.m. Monday in St. Mary's Church for Ida's Mass of Christian burial with the Rev. Frank Lioi, pastor, as celebrant. Burial will be in St. Joseph's Cemetery. Calling hours will be 4 to 7 p.m. today at the Pettigrass Funeral Home, 196 Genesee St., Auburn.
