AUBURN - Hugh G. Brazee, 85, of 303 S. Seward Ave., Auburn, passed away Thursday, Feb. 24, 2005, at Matthew House.A native of Eldred, Pa., he was the son of Paul and Euphema Cahoon Brazee. A graduate of Franklinville High School, and an Army veteran of World War II, he was a 50-year resident of Auburn. Hugh retired from Agway in 1985 with 40 years of dedicated continuous employment.
He was a member of the United Church of Auburn, an avid gardener, a guardian of the American Chestnut Tree and a devoted family patriarch.
Surviving is his wife, Elaine Overton Brazee, Auburn, whom he married in Wellsville on Jan.7, 1950; their children, James Brazee (Olga) and Greg Brazee (Anne), all of Auburn, Michael Brazee (Lynn) of Fairport, Jeff Brazee, Scott Brazee (Donna) and Mark Brazee (Debbie), all of Auburn, and Shelly Abuyunis (Adam) of Decatur, Ga.; two brothers, Robert Brazee (Dorothy) of Seneca, Pa. and Kurt Gifford (Beverly) of Ocala, Fla.; four sisters, Daphney Casey of Bradford, Pa., Emma Mosch (Frank) of Corning, Janet Finch (Jack) of Farmersville and Eleanor Law (Forest) of Machias; 13 grandchildren, three great-granddaughters; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
He was predeceased by a son, Ronald Brazee in 1968; and his parents.Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Monday, Feb. 28, at Farrell's Funeral Service Inc., 84 South St., Auburn, with the Rev. Leon Oaks-Lee, pastor of the United Church of Auburn, officiating. Interment will be in Soule Cemetery, Sennett.
Calling hours will be held from 4 to 8 p.m. today, at the funeral home,Memorial contributions may be made to either Matthew House or Hospice of the Finger Lakes.
