AUBURN - Mr. George R. Tierney, 78, of 7600 Grant Ave. Road, Auburn, died Wednesday, Feb. 16, 2005, at Auburn Memorial Hospital.
George was a native of Sherwood, the son of George Sr. and Anna O'Herron Tierney. A veteran of World War II, he served in the Army Corps. He had retired from the New York Telephone Co. with 35 years of service.
He was a member of Holy Family Church, Auburn, the Telephone Pioneers and the Knights of Columbus.
He enjoyed golfing, and volunteering for Meals on Wheels and Link to Life.
Surviving is his wife of 55 years, Anna Marko Tierney; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
He was predeceased by his parents; and brother, William Tierney.
A private prayer service will be held at Farrell's Funeral Service Inc., Auburn, with the Rev. James Burke, pastor of Holy Family Church, officiating. Entombment will be in St. Joseph's Mausoleum.
