THROOP - Florence E. Pennell, 83, formerly of Peach Tree Road, Throop, died Thursday, Feb. 17, 2005.
Mrs. Pennell was born in Weedsport, the daughter of Walter and Hannah Johnson Gibbs. She was a graduate of Weedsport High School.
She was employed with several companies during World War II, helping with the war effort. She was employed by the Port Byron school system in the cafeteria for 22 years, retiring in a job she loved in 2000.
She is survived by two sons, Thomas Pennell and his wife Susan of Moravia, Stephen Pennell and his wife Kathy of Edgewater, Fla.; a daughter, Sondra Donofrio and her husband Joseph of Throop; close friends, Jean and Elmer Hansen of Throop; six grandchildren, Joseph Donofrio and his wife Sarah of North Carolina, Michael Donofrio of Virginia, Julie Donofrio of Throop, Thomas Pennell II and Shelly Anne Pennell, both of Moravia, and Tyler Pennell of Florida.
She was predeceased by her husband, George Pennell, on March 11, 1982.
Friends are invited to call from 2 to 4 p.m. today, Feb. 20, at the Heieck-Pelc Funeral Home, 42 E. Genesee St., Auburn.
Funeral services will be held 4 p.m., following the calling hours, at the funeral home, with the Rev. Manley Johnson officiating. Spring burial will be held in Pine Hill Cemetery, Throop.
