BINGHAMTON - Marion Fink Mindemann, 89, of Binghamton, formerly of Wauwatosa, Wis., Aurora and Stuart, Fla., passed away Thursday, Feb. 3, 2005, at Saint Louise Manor.
She was born to Irene and Edward Fink in Wauwatosa, Wis., on July 24, 1915. She was predeceased by her parents and a brother, Edward.
Marion was valedictorian of her high school class, and was always referred to as "the brains of the operation" by Karl. She was an avid bridge player, animal lover, golfer and boater, and enjoyed traveling the world with Karl at her side. Until her vision recently declined, she was an avid reader of newspapers, magazines and books, and enjoyed doing daily crossword puzzles. Marion valued her many friends, some of whom she met when she was a member of the Susquenango Squadron of the U.S. Power Squadron, the First Congregational Church, the Monday Afternoon Club, and the Binghamton Country Club. She was most devoted to her husband and family.
Marion is survived by her husband of 64 years, Karl T. Mindemann; two sons, Richard (Nancy) of Binghamton and Kully (Wendy Hill) of Harrisville, N.H.; four grandchildren, Matthew, Michael and Nicole Mindemann of Binghamton, and Liza Mindemann of Harrisville, N.H.; sister-in-law, Irene Fink of Wauwatosa, Wis.; and cousin, Irving Merrill of Walnut Creek, Calif.
A memorial service to celebrate Marion's life will be held at 3 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 12, at the William R. Chase and Son Funeral Home, 737 Chenango St., Port Dickinson. The family will receive friends from 1 p.m. to the time of the service, at the funeral home.
Those wishing may make memorial contributions to the American Heart Association or the charity of one's choice.
The family would like to thank the staff at Saint Louise Manor for the care and attention they gave to Marion during her stay there.
