AUBURN - Mrs. Joan B. Mc Donald, 78, of 21 Beardsley St., Auburn, passed away Thursday, Feb. 3, 2005, at the Mercy Health & Rehabilitation Center.
A lifelong Auburnian, she was born on March 7, 1926, the daughter of Edward and Esther Ryan Burkhardt. She was a graduate of East High School, and retired as office manager from Red Star Express. She was formerly employed with Columbian Rope Co.
A lifelong member of St. Alphonsus Church, she also was a member of the YMCA. Among many hobbies, sewing and knitting were her favorites. She was predeceased by her son, John R. Mc Donald Jr.; and husband, John R. Mc Donald, in 1993.
Surviving are sons, Paul E. Mc Donald of Auburn and Thomas A. Mc Donald (Toni) of East Syracuse; daughter, Joan M. Quill (Michael) of Auburn; seven grandchildren, Molly Mc Donald Comstock, Devin Mc Donald, Meghan Mc.Donald Michaud, Ryan Mc Donald, Courtney Mc Donald, Michael Quill Jr. and Colleen Quill; three great-grandchildren, Morgan Comstock, Haleigh and Matthew Michaud; several nieces, nephews and cousins.
She also was predeceased by her sister, Winifred Weaver.
Prayer services will be held at 8:30 a.m. today, at Farrell's Funeral Service Inc., 84 South St., followed by a Mass of Christian burial celebrated at 9 a.m. in Sacred Heart Church, with the Rev. Louis Vasile, pastor of St. Alphonsus Church, as celebrant. Entombment will be in St. Joseph's Mausoleum. Calling hours were held 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Friday, Feb. 4, at the funeral home.
Memorial contributions may be made to St. Alphonsus Church, 10 Lewis St., Auburn, NY 13021.
