Samuel J. Giannettino Sr.

AUBURN - Samuel J. Giannettino Sr., 79, of Stryker Homes, Auburn, died Friday, Dec. 10, 2004, in Auburn Memorial Hospital, with his beloved family by his side.
Sam was a life resident of Auburn and was a communicant of St. Hyacinth's Church. He was an active member of their choir for more than a decade. Sam was a member of the 4th Marine Division. He served in the South Pacific during W W II. He was a member of the Carnicelli-Indelicato Post, a life member of the Montezuma VFW Post N. 8137 and a charter member of the Erie Canal Chapter No. 40 of the Fourth Marine Division Association.

Mr. Giannettino was a graduate of the Jewelers School in Kansas City. During the 1950s he had worked for Rudolph's and Syracuse Jewelers. Following 20 years of employment at ALCO, Sam owned and operated Giannettino's Jewelry and Watch Repair in Auburn. He was a volunteer member of the Auburn Memorial Auxiliary. He loved to sing, dance, fish, hunt and was an avid skeet shooter. Sam loved country music, especially that of Alan Jackson.

Sam was the son of the late Nicholas an Frances Zimardi Giannettino. He is survived by his loving wife of 41 year, Rose Marie Balboa Giannettino; three sons, James Elisa of Northport, Ala., Samuel J. Jr. (Amy) of Auburn and Thomas A./ (Mary Lou) of Throop' a daughter, Sharon Nigro James ) of Fla.; a brother, Joseph Giannettino; five sisters, Josephine De Lano (Kenneth), Mamie Quatrochi, Dolly Trinca (Sam) And Bernadine Restey, all of Auburn and Mary Trinca (Savey) ofCamillus; eleven grandchildren, James Jr., Eric, Thomas Jr. and Vincent Gianettino, Matthew and Joseph Nolan, James Jr., Michael, and Elsie Nigro, and Jerry and Nick Kadien; nine great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews. Sam was predeceased by two brothers, Anthony Giannettino and Pat Siracusa.

Friends are invited to join the family for a Mass of Christian burial at 10 a.m. Tuesday in St. Hyacinth's Church. Burial with full military honors will be in St. Joseph's Cemetery. Friends are invited to call 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Monday at the Cheche Funeral Home, 1778 Clark St., Auburn.

Contributions may be made in Sam's memory to St. Hyacinth's Church, Pulaski St., Auburn.
