AUBURN - Catherine M. Delaney, 88, formerly of The Home, 46 Grant Ave., died Saturday, Oct. 23, 2004, at Finger Lakes Center for Living in Auburn.
Mrs. Delaney was born in Auburn on Aug. 11, 1916. She was the daughter of the late Daniel and Hannah Hart Connery. She was a member of the graduating class of 1934 of Auburn Senior High School, and attended Auburn Business School.
She has been employed as a bookkeeper with The Hunting Co. of Auburn and with SS. Kresge Store of Auburn.
She was a parishioner of Holy Family Church and also attended St. Isaac Jogues Church, where she had been a member of the Altar Society. She had been a volunteer at Mercy Health & Rehabilitation Center and with RSVP in Auburn. Mrs. Delaney had also volunteered with the National Center of Missing and Exploited Children in Virginia.
Surviving are two daughters, Mary Newton and her husband William of Missouri City, Texas, and Terri Delaney of Arlington, Va.; two grandchildren, Claire and Christopher Newton; several nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by her husband, Harold Delaney in 1994; and a stepbrother, John Kiley in 1975.
A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated 9:30 a.m. Wednesday, in Holy Family Church. Burial will be in St. Joseph's Cemetery, Fleming. Friends are invited to call on the family from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. today, at the White Chapel Funeral Home, 197 South St.
Contributions in memory of Mrs. Delaney may be made to the National Center of Missing and Exploited Children, 699 Prince St., Alexandria, Va. 22314.
